Mondo Direct: Scalable with direct VGA & audio/serial inputs
Overview
In some switching applications where the sources are in close proximity to the matrix switch, Magenta’s Mondo Direct eliminates the need for standalone transmitters by supporting direct video and audio/serial inputs into the switch. Moreover, the Mondo Direct is the only platform that can combine local sources with remote sources in a single switching platform and can support the extension of AV and serial signals up to a range of 2000ft/609m. Transmitted to the switch via UTP, the remote inputs can be mixed with the direct inputs in configurations that are scalable up to 16 direct inputs + 32 remote inputs x 128 outputs, or 32 direct inputs x 128 outputs. Like the Mondo II and Mondo III, the Mondo Direct also future proofs your investment by allowing for the addition of inputs and outputs in increments of 16 and is compatible with all MultiView -A and -S products.
The Mondo Direct can be programmed and controlled using the onboard touch-screen, Windows HyperTerminal, Magenta’s Mondo Matrix Control Software, or 3rd party control systems such as AMX or Crestron.
Description
Key Features
- Full matrix switching and UTP extension of HD-video and audio1 OR serial2 signals

Mondo Direct Control Options
All Mondo Matrix commands must be inputted via the RS-232 serial port on the master frame (first frame) of a Mondo. All input to output switching commands are received and processed by the master frame. Additional frames used within the matrix are connected in a daisy chain and receive processed commands from the master frame.
A:
At its most basic, control commands can be sent to a Mondo using HyperTerminal, a program built into Windows operating systems. HyperTerminal can be useful for initial testing of a Mondo after installation or for troubleshooting/diagnostic testing post-install.
Other more full-bodied third-part control systems are also available and detailed below:
B:
Magenta Research Mondo Matrix Control Software is a modified version of Knox Video’s Chameleon control software and currently ships on a CD-ROM with each Mondo Matrix sold. The user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows users to control a Mondo with a few mouse clicks. The software is included at no charge.

Use of Crestron and AMX or other control systems are also supported.
A full listing of commands can be found in the Mondo Matrix manual (PDF).
