PRESS RELEASE
Magenta adds display-addressable, bidirectional RS-232 for digital signage metrics and control
New Milford, CT, October 3, 2007 – Magenta Research, the recognized leader in video, audio and serial signal distribution and switching over UTP cable and optical fiber, announces the MultiView™ -SAP Series of CatX transmitters and receivers. The new MultiView models are designed for distribution of high-resolution RGBHV plus stereo audio, while concurrently providing selective source-to-screen communication over a single unshielded twisted pair cable, and from a single RS-232 comm port.
The ability to “address,” or send and receive RS-232 control signals to individual displays, can be an essential feature for digital signage applications. Display metrics are often desired by advertisers, who seek assurance that their content is being run as contractually agreed.
The MultiView –SAP Series includes the MultiView UTx–SAP Universal Transmitter and AK500DP-SAP, AK1000DP–SAP and AK1500DP–SAP Receivers. The display-addressable RS-232 feature (first introduced for Magenta’s Infinea DVI Series, now provided on MultiView –SAP models) will also be an option on Magenta’s MultiView XR-2000 Receiver, a new model specified to deliver UXGA (1600x1200) at an industry-leading 2,000 ft. (610 meters) with 64ns of skew compensation if needed.
The receiver model designation “DP” refers to a “dual port” configuration, which adds an RJ-45 connector, enabling the “daisy-chaining” of up to twelve receivers. The MultiView –SAP Series enables duplex RS-232 communication with a user-selected display regardless of its position within the daisy chain, an added feature compared to the MultiView –SA Series.
The MultiView –SAP Series includes the high-performance, high-reliability features for which the MultiView line is known, and consequently is suitable for harsh, noisy environments in a variety of dynamic signage and command-and-control environments. Unique, high-performance features include complex, seven-pole, state-variable filters, RepliSync™, a patent-pending technology for the digitization of horizontal and vertical sync signals, and ESD (electro-static discharge) protection on all input/output circuitry.

About Magenta Research
Magenta Research is the industry-recognized leader in the adaptive distribution and switching of video/audio/serial signals over CatX cable, DVI over fiber and/or Cat6 and more recently, HDMI over Cat6. Magenta manufactures the highest-performance, broadest and most flexible video-over-CatX product line, the MultiView™ Series. The company utilizes proprietary technologies to enable UXGA video distribution at 2,000 feet (610m) and QXGA video at 1,000 ft. (305m). MultiView Series transmitters, receivers, switchers and distributive systems have been installed in a large variety of A/V applications, especially dynamic signage for retail, airport, fast food, museum, casino, theatre, courtroom and corporate applications. In 2005, Magenta introduced the Mondo Matrix, the first multimedia Cat5 matrix switcher that can be scaled incrementally from 16x16 to 256x512. The Mondo has quickly become the new standard for larger-scale video plus audio and/or serial matrix switching. In 2006, Magenta launched the Infinea DVI Series and an industry-first – unlimited DVI extension over optical fiber and/or Cat6 using digital signal repeaters at 10km of fiber or 600 ft. (183m) of Cat6. Based in Connecticut, USA, Magenta utilizes a network of international distributors, manufacturers’ representatives and resellers to market its enabling technology worldwide.
