The Undisputed Leader in PRO AV Signal Distribution

Suggested Cat5 for use with MultiView™

For runs of 500 feet or less:
Magenta Research recommends using a low-speed, unshielded Cat5/5e cable. Pinning should be to the T568B specification (pictured below). MultiView is also compatible with Cat6 cable, please see notes below.

For runs over 500 feet:

For long distance runs with MultiView products, Magenta Research recommends two cabling options:

  1. Install skew-free Cat5 cable; Magenta has tested and endorses the use of Mohawk Cable's Spectrum low-skew cable (#M58814/#M58813), Belden's NanoSkew cable (#7987P/R), Gepco's LSK 04 or Liberty Tru-Phase-P with the MultiView product line.

  2. Use low-speed, unshielded Cat5/5e cable and have Magenta's AkuComp skew compensation module factory installed in MultiView long distance receivers (AK1000 / AK1500).

  3. Other in-house tested cables that offer high video/audio/serial performance with MultiView 250A and AK500 receivers, as well as with AK1000/AK1500 receivers with optional AkuComp skew compensation installed: Belden 1872A Cat6 Media Twist, Belden 7989R "Low Skew" Cat6, Belden 7988R Cat5e and Belden 1624R Screened Cat5.

Notes:

• Some skew free Cat5 is specific to a particular vendor and is not compatible with our products. Please ensure any skew free CAT5 cable is non-proprietary prior to purchase/installation.

• CAT6 cable, due to the manufacture method, can exhibit much greater skew than standard CAT5/5e and may require skew compensation beyond what the standard product offers. Please contact Magenta Research for assistance.
